It seems like it was my calling to be a teacher. I’ve worked with young kids for as long as I can remember and have a lot of experience in early childhood development through different jobs and volunteer positions. After earning my Bachelor’s degree, I moved to Germany to teach ESL for 2 years to kids in the school district and returned to complete a multiple subject teaching credential. I taught P.E. for grades K-6 for one year before stepping away from teaching after having my son to start a new job as mom. I found RPEP as a parent in 2012 and have been a part of the RPEP community ever since. My 2 oldest kids did the toddler and AM classes and I served on the Board for 2 years. RPEP was the perfect opportunity to step back into a teaching role in a program I love so much! My youngest daughter will be attending toddler class this year and I’m very excited to watch her grow here at RPEP!

I have been a part of the RPEP community since 2012 when I joined the Toddler program as a parent with my son. Since 2012, I have attended four and a half years of Toddler Classes, two years of AM and two years of PM classes for both my son and daughter. Last January I had the pleasure of starting Toddler Class with my youngest child, Sofia.
I have a Bachelors of Art degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in business administration from Chico State. I earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Fresno State. I started my teaching career as a preschool teacher and then moved up to teach first grade. When my son was born, I took a break from teaching until I began substitute teaching at RPEP in 2013. In 2016 I came on board as the AM teacher. Last year I was blessed to team-teach with Miss Molly and I had a great time collaborating new ideas with her.
This year I am thrilled to be teaching the Toddler Class and still have time to collaborate with Miss Megan, Miss Molly, and Miss Alyssa! My passion is to teach parents about the importance of play based learning and of course working with little children. RPEP is an amazing program that has prepared my children for elementary school and I am so glad I get to share this experience with others in our community.
I am so excited to continue teaching at RPEP this year!
My love of teaching began at a young age, and I spent my college years as a camp counselor at Kennolyn Camp in the Santa Cruz area and working on campus at the child development center.
I graduated from California State University, Monterey Bay with a degree in Film. I knew that I would be pursuing my teaching credential upon graduation, so I completed all of my tests and applications my senior year. I completed my teaching credential program the following year, and graduated from California State University, Northridge. I married my husband Chris soon after, and we moved to the Sacramento area (we now live in Rocklin).
I taught 3rd grade at a charter school in the Del Paso Heights area for 5 years. During my time there, I continued my education and earned my Master’s Degree in Education (Curriculum and Instruction) with an emphasis in Professional Development. I left my teaching job when I had my twin boys (Jack and Raylan) and stayed home with them for a year. Then I job-shared in 3rd grade at Rocklin Academy for 1 year, and then stayed on in a part time capacity for an additional year in a teacher support role (coaching teachers and substitute teaching in grades TK-8th grade). It was at this point I began to search for an outstanding preschool program for my boys, and I found RPEP.
My twin boys and I started at RPEP 3 years ago in the AM class with Miss Kristy. We quickly fell in love with the school, and I began to substitute teach for RPEP that year. The following year at RPEP, my boys and I were in the PM class with Miss Megan, and I became the President of the Board. Last year, I was asked to join the teaching staff at RPEP, and I co-taught the AM class with Miss Kristy. It was a fantastic year! I am so excited to continue co-teaching this school year in the AM class with Miss Alyssa, and I can’t wait to continue on my journey with RPEP!!

I have attended RPEP since 2002 with four out of six of my children. It felt so natural to step into the teacher role after having experienced 4 years of toddler classes, 3 years of AM class, and 3 years of PM class. I have served on the RPEP parent board and working with the teachers over the years. I have a BA from Sonoma State University, Adult Education credentials from San Diego state and am a trained Kindermusik teacher. I have been at RPEP as a teacher since 2011 and I love it! Additionally, I am conference junky. I love attending conferences especially regarding children. I was even lucky enough to assist in putting on the California Council Parent Participation Nursery School or CCPPNS preschool conference in 2009. I am currently on the CCPPNS state board as well as the Sacramento council board. I have learned so much pertaining to play-based learning and love to teach others. Play is foundational to a child's learning! I am excited to play and learn with the children and parents of RPEP. My greatest support comes from my husband of over 29 years-Mark, and my children; David, Dwayne, Anne, Joseph, Jack and PJ.
