The teachers of Roseville Parent Education Preschool strive to offer parents education and support to nurture the growth and development of their young children in a safe, caring environment. In this cooperative setting, both parents and children are provided opportunities to learn together through experience, thus enhancing parent-child, family, and community relationships.
More than 30 years ago, Ken Westenskow was Principal of Roseville Adult School. He first started our program, hoping to model it after the successful Parent Ed Preschool program in the San Juan Unified School District. At that time 15 families made up the whole school, today – at full capacity – we have 73. The first class opened its doors in August of 1977 at the Baptist Church on Coloma Road. A year later, we moved to the Church of Christ on Cirby Road. For over 30 years we were housed out of this location before moving to our current location on Old Auburn Road in 2012. RPEP has been around for a long time and we have had many second generation families come through the program!
Roseville Parent Education Preschool (RPEP) is a parent-participation preschool. Statistics indicate that a very high percentage of parents who have been involved in parent-participation preschools continue their involvement throughout their children's elementary and secondary education. This kind of support gives children self-esteem and confidence. As a parent cooperative preschool, RPEP offers an excellent adult-child ratio for all of our classes.
In 2012, our Board and teachers worked tirelessly to purchase the Old Auburn Road property that serves as RPEP's home. Owning our own property has given us greater flexibility and control over our programming, allowing us to add our summer program as well as personalize our school however we see fit for the needs of our community. A lot of loving work has gone in to making it the wonderful place you see today!
