Each year, Roseville Adult School sends a questionnaire to the four year old parents from the year prior to see how their child is doing in Kindergarten. If you would like to see a summary of the results, click here.
The teachers of Roseville Parent Education Preschool strive to offer parents education and support to nuture the growth and development of their young children in a safe, caring environment. In this cooperative setting, both parents and children are provided opportunities to learn together through experience, thus enhancing parent-child, family, and community relationships.
The Teachers
Myra Todrank aka Miss Myra
I have loved children all my life! I began at RPEP as a student in 1997 with my son, Ryan. In 1999, I assisted with the first toddler program at RPEP. I received an Adult Education teaching credential through CSUS and have been teaching since 2000, having taught the 4/5 year olds, 3/4 year olds, a sensory enrichment class and currently, both toddler classes. I am passionate about the preservation of childhood, the importance of play, the development of the sense of self, and the nurturance of the whole child! I received a BS in Occupational Therapy from SJSU and am also currently working as a pediatric occupational therapist for Burger Pediatric Therapy, specializing in sensory integration. I am married to Craig, a physical therapist, and have a daughter - Kara (a sophomore at UCSD), son - Ryan (a junior at Oakmont High School), and a cat named Tiggy.
Stacey Draper aka Miss Stacey
I am the newest member of the RPEP teaching staff, but I am not new to RPEP. I was a participating parent with my son for the last three years. Prior to having children, I taught both first and second grades in a public elementary school in San Jose. After moving to Roseville in 2002, I subbed in the Dry Creek School District, primarily in kindergarten. I hold a degree from Cal Poly in Human Development and a multiple subject teaching credential from San Jose State University. I am married to Jeff, also a teacher, and we have 3 sons, Kevin, Matthew, and Justin. I believe passionately in the play-based philosophy at RPEP, and look forward to sharing that passion and having lots of fun with the parents and children in the AM class this year!

It feels so natural to step into the teacher role after having experienced 4 years of toddler classes, 3 years of AM class, and 3 years of PM class. I have enjoyed serving on the RPEP parent board and working with the teachers over the years. I have a BA from Sonoma State University and am a trained Kindermusik teacher. Additionally, I am conference junky. I love attending conferences especially regarding children. I was even lucky enough to assist in putting on the CCPPNS preschool conference in 2009. I have learned so much pertaining to play-based learning and love to teach others. Play is foundational to a child's learning! I am excited to play this year with the children and parents of RPEP. My greatest support comes from my husband of almost 20 years-Mark, and my children; David, Dwayne, Anne, Joseph, and Jack.
Education Philosophy
Roseville Parent Education Preschool (RPEP) is a parent-participation preschool. Statistics indicate that a very high percentage of parents who have been involved in parent-participation preschools continue their involvement throughout their children's elementary and secondary education. This kind of support gives children self-esteem and confidence.
This preschool emphasizes "learning through play" which develops many of the necessary skills for later life. These skills come about when the need for freedom and guidance is recognized. RPEP provides a play-based curriculum that:
Supports the development of the whole child: social, emotional, physical and intellectual.
Allows for each child's unique learning style, abilities and developmental level.
Provides hands-on learning. The curriculum emerges from the children's interests, needs and desires, making learning concrete and meaningful.
